GPL does American racing, here's the 71 Can Am series.
http://www.virtualr.net/1971-canam-mod-for-grand-prix-legends-released

The mighty 7-litre McLaren M8A of 1968 was the first of the series which dominated Can-Am for five years, driven by McLaren, Hulme and Revson

ABOVE Bruce McLaren at the wheel of his M8B, powering it through a left-hand bend at Laguna Seca in 1969; he won the race.

Reprinted from The Car Volume 6 Part 68 - 1985

In 1966, the debut year of the Canadian American Challenge Cup series - the Can-Am for short - Bruce McLaren's M1B sports cars were outclassed by their more powerful Lola and Chaparral opposition. In 1972 the M20s lost out in the power stakes to Roger Penske's brutally fast turbocharged Porsches. In the intervening years, however, the Can-Am was McLaren. The orange cars from Colnbrook notched up 38 victories, while privateer cars accounted for two more. Even in that final year of eclipse the works cars won twice and a private example once, bringing the final marque tally to an incredible 43.

McLaren himself won the Can-Am title in 1967 and 1969, while team-mate Denny Hulme won it in 1968 and salvaged something from the team's distress by taking his second title in 1970, the year in which Bruce was killed testing an M8D. Hulme's 1971 team-mate was colorful American Peter Revson, who took the title in the M8F.

Still carry the Kiwi symbol, and so do the cars.

I'd love to see this done properly as a game. The best mix of car and boat racing.

A sim is just that, a simulation. It can never be the real thing and, at present, can never feel like the real thing.

Your idea of a DIY seat, although they can cost as much as a cheap production one, is good. A set driving position helps a lot.
1 good 24+ monitor is ok, a cheap 32+ TV is also good.

That and find a sim you like and suits you, try Stock Car extreme, one month demo and see the thread for details.

Even GP Legends is (legally I believe) free now with a truck load of mods and that is fun to drive.

Find a fun game and drive heaps !

I really love RSRBR, I rant about it and annoy people with my opinion, BUT, I really think that Dirt is not a waste of money and is looking like the best step forward for 5 years in Rally Sim.

To Be Honest, RSRBR (and RBR) can't model RWD cars, the graphics are on a par with LFS, (sorry, but true), No weather, no real development, etc etc etc.....

Codemaster seem to be trying to do a high quality game here rather than just releasing crap. They have a rep that has a history of doing great games and I believe this is what they are trying to achieve with Dirt.

And even with my 8 year old 775/xeon GTX560 system I'm averaging 55 FPS on high settings. Sure, 200+ with LFS but .... hmmmm.....,.

If you need to change priority for a specific process, i.e. LFS.exe,
alt, ctrl, del to task manager, go to processes tab, right click on program, (LFS.exe)

That will work for nearly all processors as LFS is only single core. It will help Smile

Australian surfer Julian Wilson's selfless heroism is being praised after he swam towards a great white shark that was attacking his rival Mick Fanning.
While many competitors may have fled to shore in terror, Wilson instead swam out to help his 34-year-old rival, the Australian newspaper reported.
He told the Australian after the ordeal: "It came up and he was wrestling it, and I saw he got knocked off his board ... I felt like I couldn't get there quick enough.

"I was like 'I've got a board, if I can get there I can stab it or whatever, I've got a weapon'."

Typical bloody Australian !

The question should be, why use windoze ?

If you've played with 10 then it's clear that Linux is a sensible desktop choice. Steam have ensured that many A games will get a Linux port, Wine will let most programs work.

10 is shaping up to be a great money maker for me, all my clients who get the free upgrade and have no idea what's happening. AWESOME - CA-CHING $$$$.

And even the latest release is not as good as 7, better than 8 but how hard is that ?

Yes, works better at the hardware level, but how many (l)users care about that ?

"Its all changed and I hate it !!!!, fix it now !!!!" is what I'll be hearing.

Seriously, Thanks M$ for the business.

Simple, easy answer, practice, practice, practice.

Lots of miles (ми́ля) and experience will make you a better racer. That really is the only proven way to be faster. Yes, natural ability is awesome, however, if your not on world record pace by your 10th lap, I'd suggest you try practicing.

A great start is, slow in, fast out. Practice on not overdriving the corner entry as that only losses time, both in the corner but also on your terminal speed down the next straight.
Have fun Smile

During a 1978 tour, psychobilly punk band The Cramps created one of the strangest moments in the history of both rock n' roll and psychiatry when they played a gig inside Napa State Mental Hospital.
It's hard to believe it actually happened. The story sounds more like an exaggerated rock legend than an account of a real concert, but no suspension of disbelief is needed. Someone filmed the gig.

Johnny Cash and The Cramps are unlikely bedfellows, but both took their music to the marginalised and hinted that we're not so different from those we lock away.

Wot a surprise.......

"The ghost of THQ is still with us today as some of the publisher’s greatest hits find new life on GOG. Deep Silver and Nordic Games, who bought the rights after THQ’s demise, have released Saints Row 2 + 3, Darksiders 1 + 2 and Metro: Last Light Redux on the digital store, all at a discounted price until May 18th.

This is the first time any of these games have been made available completely DRM free.

Metro: Last Light Redux is an upgrade to the original gritty, dystopian FPS. Not as great an update as the strangely absent Metro 2033: Redux, but still good fun. Whereas the Darksiders games are less “depressing Russian wasteland” and more “colourful comicbook gods and monsters”.
And Saints Row is what happens when you let Grand Theft Auto have too many sweets and then hand it a giant dildo. Hopefully at least one of those tickles your fancy.

Despite being an eclectic mix of genres and styles, all of these games are well worth the money. So if you somehow haven’t grabbed them yet, now is the perfect time. You can find them on the GOG website, or through their new GOG Galaxy standalone client."

Like all these old games , cough 'LFS' cough, they are only single core, so strangely enough, a 3.2 Pentium 4 will kick ass.......

In Hobbitville we have the same motion V8 car system returning big bucks. 3 laps of Bathurst in a V8 (guess the game..)

Makes great money. If you want to do this forget LFS, I can get a licence with an inferior game, but include all NZ tracks. The people paying the money don't play these games, however they do love racing the track they are watching the racing at. They also will pay $ bucks to try to be the fastest at that track over a weekend.

Or, just race their favorite circuit any other time.....

LFS is the best sim, for those who want the best feel, online, etc..., but, for those who want money from punters, forget it. I cannot provide NZ tracks with LFS, I can with other sims.......

And, as for my racing I use the best, I really don't care about that however when it comes to charging punters to do a hot lap of Pukekohe, Hampton Downs, or Manfield.

It's $ on the table that LFS clearly doesn't want......
Sweet, not my issue, tried saying that there is money here, got told to shut up, ROFL..........

Actually, in NZ atm, any sim that offers this is a winner....

Or this.....

HARRIMAN CORE PROJECTS
Learning from Transition: From the Local to the Global
The last 25 years of transition in Eurasia witnessed institutional transformation on a historical scale. New institutions aimed to cement the rule of law, pluralistic democracies and market economies in the region.......

I suspect that the Russians have better things to do than that, and given the Harriman Institutes focus, I think they are just missing the good old days of McArthyism. That and preparing the ground for Hillary........

LFS is processor based, not really graphics based. TBO, a Pentium 4 3Ghz runs LFS really well provided that's all it's doing.
LFS is single core but does require a bit of processor grunt for good results.

If your PC is "overloaded of ****in virus...." then resolving that issue would be a great place to start to improving your LFS experience.

Once you have done that, please feel free to post back and we can help you further.

There is nothing we can do to help until you have resolved your malware/virus issues though.

This is actually a thoughtful post given the thought put into the above posts.

Cargame, the kids have had GTA V for years on their xboxyPS thingies. People with PC's have been playing The Witcher......, as should everyone here if you love gaming.

Scrawen, I really understand what your feeling and saying, but after 10 years here, after me saying the same thing for years, and now sadly stating that online in Australasia doesn't exist any more, that's really sad to say.

IMHO, Open up the demo to Westhill and Fox to get up numbers, allow 3rd party tracks for licenced players, build online interest so when you release the physics, there is still a player base to build on.

Or, rely on Occ Rift which doesn't care about small studios, rely on ?????? to get user numbers up. Whatever, I love this game but it's up to you to get the ball rolling again. Many of us have been trying hard for years but.......

LFS really sucks db as a single player game, it's strength is online multiplayer. Please don't kill it !

That's a shame. The 'HUGE' issue with RSRBR (RBR) has always been RWD cars. I was really hoping that Codemaster may have finally fixed this issue Frown

Bit of a shame, Scrawen has had this RWD issue sorted for years but as LFS never do updates, allow tracks, etc etc....
They could have the whole car sim thing sorted if they actually cared but however ......

As I'm probably facing a ban for saying this so, maybe we should just steal stuff and release our own sim, with blackjack and hookers.......

Clearly he's a highly qualified Journalist who's going to be fact focused and move Top Gear back to being a car program..

"Critics hated innuendo-laden features like Honk Your Horn and in Bed With Your Girlfriend, but Evans put on 600,000 new listeners over Steve Wright – one for every £5 spent on salary and advertising. The effect also flowed through into the listening figures for later programs. The audience grew as the breakfast format became more outrageous: humiliating assistant Holly Samos by repeatedly asking her about her sex life (Evans and Samos were reportedly in a relationship at periods through their time working together), and encouraging two female guests to perform a strip show on live radio.[11] The show's highest listening figure reached 7.5million.[12]"

Quote from Crashgate3 :That is awful news. They've gone from a man who pretends to be unlikable to a man who actually is genuinely unlikable.

Welcome to the 'ALL NEW' 'PC' 'SJW' BBC answer to getting rid of Clarkson. That prat is the prime choice* (edit below) for the 'ALL NEW AND IMPROVED' Top Gear host. I think that this was a fishing trip to see how well it went down. ( Like cold vomit, from what I can tell...)

* But clearly, he was so awesome and you pathetic Pom's all loved him so much that he's now got the job.........
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-33158464

That shyte makes Top Gear USA look entertaining.......
Guy Martin would have been an intelligent choice, but that Chris Evans prat is just going to create NoddyLand. Just what the BBC wants, now they need a young female who has purple hair and many piercings, http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/quinnspiracy, and a nerd. Then they'll fit their psycological model for Top Gear viewers.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Clarkson has returned to the BBC to record a voiceover for what is likely to be his final episode of Top Gear.

And this...

And now, an actual real fact !!..

Jeremy Clarkson will make his last ever appearance on Top Gear later this month.
The episode, featuring previously unseen footage of the TV star, will be broadcast on Sunday, June 28 on BBC2.
Clarkson and co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May will be back behind the wheel of classic cars and beaten-up 4x4s as they take on their final challenges together.
